Allen Matkins once again set high marks in this year’s “Food from the Bar” fundraising campaign, competing against other regional law firms to help raise funds for families in need. The firm’s Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco offices each participated in their respective regions, raising a total of nearly $14,000 for local charities. In addition to the money raised, attorneys and staff from each office donated dozens of volunteer hours at their local food banks and organized inner-office fundraising activities that reflect the communal and philanthropic culture that Allen Matkins is proud to maintain.
The Los Angeles office hosted a root beer float party and bake sale, and was able to donate funds raised at its potluck feast during Thanksgiving. San Diego attorneys and staff were encouraged to create individual fundraising webpages, raffled off prizes and held its annual costume-themed “Bowls for Food” bowling event. Attorneys and staff in the San Francisco office hosted several silent auctions, “Jeans Mondays,” a tamale and margarita fiesta, a wacky t-shirt contest, two bake sales and a cake auction.
During the summer months, thousands of children lose access to school breakfast and lunch programs, a critical source of nutrition for their development. Parents look to local food pantries or soup kitchens to help meet their children’s daily nutritional needs. The Food from the Bar campaign provides critical funds during this difficult time so that kids and families can get the nutrition they need.
